Practitioners listed on this Register are ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioners who comply with the Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner Program (ALPP), a robust regulatory scheme designed and administered by the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA), the peak body for lymphoedema in Australia and New Zealand - click here to find out more about the ALPP. Only practitioners who meet the entry requirements and demonstrate ongoing compliance with the Program's policies are ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioners. And - as only ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioners are eligible to appear on the National Lymphoedema Practitioners Register (NLPR, the Register) - consumers, carers and referrers can be assured that they will be accessing the best advice and care.
ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioners work within the scope of practice of their health profession. When seeking an ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner, please note there are two categories of accreditation:
Provide initial diagnostic assessment, ongoing assessment and treatment of people with lymphoedema
Provide ongoing assessment and treatment of people with lymphoedema
Beyond the scope of practice specified by a practitioner's accreditation category, the type of treatment provided by ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioners will depend on the scope of practice of their specific undergraduate and/or postgraduate training and the level of lymphoedema management training undertaken by the practitioner.
